I started keeping pigeons when I was 14 years old. Some of my neighborhood friends had racers and got me interested. I built a crude loft out of scrap wood and chicken wire and started with birds from these friends. A couple of years later, I purchased two pairs from the area's top flyer, Mr. Will Baldwin, for $20 per pair. That was a lot of money in 1966!  I never raced them, but when my family went anywhere, I would take some birds and release them. The fascination of the racers was overwhelming.  With the help of the early greats such as Mr. Baldwin, I gained knowledge and the understanding of what it takes to be a good pigeon racer.  After graduation, I started a family and had to leave the hobby.  The love of the birds was always with me.  I thank Mr. Baldwin along with the other early, dedicated flyers, that built the mental foundation for me to excel in this sport.  Although they are no longer with us, they are truly legends in the sport and are greatly missed.

PIGEONS FOR SALE:  We at Topgun Loft are not feather merchants.  We do not arbitrarily breed our birds.  We do not keep an excess of pigeons.  We will on occasion, by reservation, raise young for a client.  This will require full payment in advance of putting the breeders together.  Prices start at $200 each plus $50 for shipping.
